A goof and an apology

Please wait here, while I dig a hole large enough to fit your humble editor.

I made a mistake in this week's newspaper that is small in one sense but rather gargantuan in another. It concerns the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

In this week's newspaper, we reprint a pair of editorials from 1963. Both were printed in the Half Moon Bay Review in the weeks following Kennedy's assassination. The first was printed on Nov. 29, 1963, the second on Dec. 6, 1963. So far so good.

The problem is in my preamble to those old editorials. I wrote that Kennedy was killed on Nov. 23, 1963. That is obviously wrong. He was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963. I know that very well and should have certainly caught the error before it made it into print.

I could write it off as a simple typo, but I know how important that date is to many, many, many people. My apologies to all for the mistake and a sincere thanks to Susie for pointing it out to me.

No worries, Clay. Turkey day will still be a week from Thursday...

Whew!!! For a moment I thought that Steven King was going to have to retitle his book.

I wish that was the worst mistake that I ever made.

Thank you all for being so understanding. I really feel awful about this one.
