|What Terra Nova results mean for Half Moon Bay in PAL Tournament|
Now that the regular season is finished, here’s what I know about the Peninsula Athletic League Basketball Tournament, as it affects Half Moon Bay High School.
On the girls side, Half Moon Bay, with its 57-40 win over Terra Nova, clinched second place in the PAL North Division and gets a home game in the first round of the tournament.
The Cougars play at 6 p.m., Wednesday against Mills. The Vikings picked up the No. 3 spot in the PAL South, edging Capuchino, 51-50 in overtime.
As for the boys basketball team, all I can say for sure is the Cougars’ first-round follows the girls game. But, with their 46-45 loss to Terra Nova, the Cougars and the Tigers are co-champions. With no way to break the tie, according to PAL by-laws, a coin flip takes place Saturday morning to determine who in the No. 1 seed from the North and who’s in the No. 2 seed.
The No. 1 seed will host Menlo-Atherton and the No. 2 seed welcomes Burlingame.
The semifinals and finals of the tournament take place at Mills, Feb. 19-20.
